Title: Leading Election Forecasting Project Cements Partnership with Governments Academy

Date Published: 2024-02-06

The Governments Academy is excited to announce a unique partnership with Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ), a leading data-driven provider of real-time election results and analysis. This collaboration positions the Academy as a hub for election data literacy and experiential learning during the 2024 election cycle.

DDHQ will base a portion of its operations within the Governments Academy, offering internships and paid positions for interested students seeking involvement in data science and electoral processes.  The team at DDHQ is renowned for its speed and accuracy in calling election results at national, state, and local levels.

"The Governments Academy aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance education and transparency surrounding elections," says Scott Tranter, Director of Data Science at DDHQ.  "We are eager to work directly with students who show interest in this vital pillar of democracy."

In preparation for Super Tuesday on March 5th, DDHQ analysts and interns will begin operations on the GA campus. As primary and general elections take place throughout 2024, Academy students will gain a front-row seat to how vote tabulation and forecasting function.

"This is an invaluable opportunity for our students to experience the complex mechanisms involved in ensuring and communicating fair election results," explains Dean Jennifer.

DDHQ is actively seeking motivated GA students eager to contribute to their operations. These paid positions include working with DDHQ experts to monitor and report outcomes from voting districts across the country.

The project highlights the intersection of data science, technology, and public service. Amelia Minkin, a GA student already working as a data fellow with DDHQ, comments, "This experience has been incredibly enriching, revealing how my data analysis skills directly contribute to serving the public interest."

Beyond internships, this partnership provides further benefits for the Governments Academy community:

Collaboration with Faculty: DDHQ analysts will participate in coursework discussions and research initiatives, showcasing a blend of theory and practical applications.
Institute Integration: Academy partners such as the national decision institute will collaborate with DDHQ for panels and election-related events, adding to campus discourse.
"Our students gain unique perspective and career possibilities,  directly aligned with the Governments Academy's commitment to equipping the next generation of skilled political leaders and analysts,"  says [Executive Director of Partner Institute].
